Bringing a Japanese Legend Back to Life – Toyota MR2 Turbo Rev 3

This Toyota MR2 Turbo Rev 3 has been dry stored in a garage for the last 10 years, and it’s now in our workshop at Garage Whifbitz to be brought back to life.

Inspection and Condition

We’ve already had the car up on the ramp for a full inspection, and overall, it’s in very good condition considering how long it’s been off the road.
The shell is solid, and everything looks original — a great base to work from.

The Work Ahead

Even though it’s been stored dry, time still takes its toll on certain components, so we’re carrying out a full service and refresh to get it road-ready again.
The work includes:

  • Full service including cambelt replacement
  • Suspension refresh with Powerflex polyurethane bushes to replace cracked originals
  • New tyres (the current set is 28 years old!)
  • New brake discs and upgraded Porterfield brake pads, along with fresh brake fluid

Once complete, this MR2 Turbo will be ready to hit the road again and be enjoyed as it should be — a proper JDM icon brought back to life.
