GR Corolla Mods Tested Stage by Stage on the Dyno

This Toyota GR Corolla was imported and supplied by Whifbitz, with the customer choosing to have the car modified before collection as part of a carefully planned performance build.

Rather than fitting all upgrades at once, we took a stage-by-stage approach, dyno testing the car after each modification. This allowed us and the customer to see exactly what each change delivered, from power increases to improvements in consistency and intake air temperatures.

Stock Baseline

We began by dyno testing the GR Corolla in completely standard form, establishing a reliable baseline for power output and intake air temperatures. This ensured that all later results could be compared accurately.

Intake Upgrade

The first modification was an Eventuri carbon intake kit, chosen for its airflow efficiency and consistent performance. After installation, the car was dyno tested again to measure changes in power delivery and throttle response compared to stock.

Intercooler & Boost Pipe Testing

Next, multiple dyno runs were completed before fitting a Forge Motorsport intercooler and boost pipe kit. Further dyno testing after installation allowed us to compare power consistency and intake air temperatures, highlighting the importance of charge cooling rather than focusing solely on peak figures.

Final Power Setup

For the final stage of the build, the GR Corolla was upgraded with:

  • Syvecs ECU
  • Kelford EZ cams and valve springs
  • Whifbitz downpipe
  • Airtec turbo inlet elbow
  • Forge Motorsport blow-off valve

These upgrades allow for improved airflow, more precise engine control, and a smoother, more optimised power curve. As with every previous stage, the car was dyno tested and the results discussed in detail.

Chassis Enhancements

To complement the performance upgrades, the following chassis modifications were also carried out:

  • Eibach lowering springs
  • Wheel spacers

These changes improve both the stance and overall handling, ensuring the car feels as good to drive as it performs on the dyno.
