We’ve recently completed another Toyota GR Yaris build at Whifbitz, this time taking a slightly different route with a well-matched hybrid turbo setup designed to deliver strong, usable performance while retaining everyday drivability.
Vehicle Overview
This 2021 Toyota GR Yaris arrived with several quality upgrades already fitted, providing a solid base for the next stage of development.
Modifications fitted on arrival:
- Milltek exhaust system
- GPF delete pipe
- Eventuri intake kit
- Pumaspeed intercooler
Whifbitz Upgrades
To improve airflow, reliability, and overall performance, we carried out the following upgrades in-house:
- Kelford 267A cams & valve springs
- Midland hybrid turbo
- SRD Racing sump baffle kit
- Airtec turbo elbow
- HKS Super Fire spark plugs

Once the hardware was installed, the car was fully calibrated using a custom ECU map on 99RON pump fuel.
Power & Results
The GR Yaris was set up with low and high boost maps, giving the owner flexibility depending on driving conditions and requirements.
Dyno results:
- Low boost: 262whp / 316bhp

- High boost: 308whp / 370bhp

The result is a responsive, well-balanced setup with strong mid-range performance, clean top-end power delivery, and excellent drivability on pump fuel.
Final Thoughts
This build highlights what can be achieved with the right combination of supporting modifications and careful calibration, without the need for a fully forged engine setup. The hybrid turbo offers fast spool characteristics while still delivering a significant increase in power over stock.
