We had this stunning Toyota GR Yaris in the Whifbitz workshop recently after the owner reported the car going into a kind of limp mode when hitting boost. Time to investigate!
Diagnosing the Issue
After some inspection, we discovered that the car had previously been remapped, but at the time, it was suffering from a major boost leak. The customer had since fixed the boost leak, but unfortunately, this caused the engine to overboost heavily.
Back to Basics and Better Than Ever
To ensure everything was safe and performing properly, we flashed the ECU back to stock before reinstalling Ecutek to check everything was ok. We then proceeded to custom remap the car on our in-house dyno here at Whifbitz.
Modifications and Upgrades
During the visit, we also installed an Airtec intake kit to help with airflow and performance and a Turbosmart dual port BOV. The car was already equipped with a Milltek exhaust and Airtec intercooler, giving it a solid foundation for power and efficiency.
Final Power Figures
After the remap, the GR Yaris is now producing an impressive:
- 261whp, equivalent to
- 323bhp at the flywheel

The tune includes all the usual Ecutek features such as:
- Rolling anti-lag
- Launch control
- Flat-foot shifting
This GR Yaris now drives as good as it looks – a properly sorted hot hatch with serious punch!
