We’ve just finished off this Toyota Supra Mk4 auto non turbo which has been turned into a 380bhp turbocharged fire breather.
It came in to us running really bad which we soon diagnosed as a knocking engine which needed a full rebuild. We decided to fit a brand new Toyota 2JZ-GTE turbo bottom end and then rebuild the existing 2JZ-GE cylinder head with a new oil pump, water pump, GTE head gasket, cambelt, etc.
The customer wanted it turbocharged so on went our ever popular Supra NA-T turbo kit which comes as a complete kit capable of producing around 500bhp. On this particular Supra we had to cap the power at 380bhp as the standard 4 speed auto gearbox struggles with any more power than this. The engine is being controlled by a Link Storm ecu piggybacked off the standard ecu which is left controlling the auto gearbox. The fuel system has been upgraded with a Walbro 255lph fuel pump and 650cc FIC drop in injectors. Next step for this Supra would be one of our ZF 8 speed gearbox conversions which would allow us to raise the power to 500bhp without any limitations.
