We started assembling Johns engine back together today. To take the extra boost we are going to be running with this build the engine needed the compression ratio lowering. To do this we fitted a good used set of standard Supra 2JZ-GTE TT pistons with brand new Toyota piston rings and a Toyota Supra 2JZ-GTE TT head gasket, these 2 modifications will provide a low enough compression ratio to run 1.5 bar boost no problem.
Bare block all cleaned and ready to start assembling
Clevite main bearings fitted into the block along with the crankshaft
Used set of TT pistons with new Toyota rings fitted. Also fitted with ARP conron bolts for extra strength
ARP main studs fitted and plastigauged crank bearings checking for the correct bearing clearance
Main bearing caps with plastigauge checking for the correct bearing clearances
ARP main studs and bearing caps installed
ARP head stud kit fitted to the block with TT head gasket and TT pistons installed
Fully refreshed cylinder head with new valve stem seals, cylinder head skimmed, cleaned and ready to install
Cylinder head bolted to the block with standard cams fitted and all shimmed up ready to go,
